WHO JENNIFER IS

Why This Work?

I have always believed in human potential. Before I became a therapist, I was an educator - a Teach For America corps member and then alumna working in some of our country's most under-resourced communities. What I witnessed there stayed with me: people have a remarkable capacity to grow, to change, to reach toward something better, even in the most difficult circumstances. Even when the systems around them were failing them.

Eventually, I found myself less interested in trying to change those systems from the outside and more called to work alongside people directly - to be a steady presence as they navigated and, more importantly, thrived within the realities of their lives, families, communities, and cultures.

That thread has run through everything I have done. In classrooms and in therapy rooms, the thing that has mattered most, the thing I have watched make the most difference, is the presence of someone who genuinely cares. Someone who shows up, pays attention, and holds space.

I became a therapist because I believe, fully and without reservation, that none of us were meant to navigate this alone. Not the hard seasons. Not the quiet suffering. Not the weight of trying to hold everything together while something inside quietly asks for more.

That belief is at the center of everything I do at Cypress.

What keeps me in this work is the relationships. I have profound admiration for the people who sit across from me - for their courage, their willingness to share what they carry, and their trust. They touch my life. They teach me too.

HOW JENNIFER WORKS

Clinically sophisticated.
Deeply human.

Jennifer's approach is integrative, which means she draws from multiple evidence-based modalities and chooses what will serve each individual client best.

She does not apply a single framework to everyone. She listens first, then works.

Her work is person-centered and trauma-informed at its core -- meaning safety, pacing, and the quality of the therapeutic relationship are never an afterthought. They are the foundation everything else is built on.

Sessions are 55 minutes and available in-person in New Orleans or virtually. The pace of the work is calibrated to what each client can hold.

It's never rushed and never stalled.

ACT

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Supports values-based living and psychological flexibility -- helping clients stop fighting their inner experience and start moving toward what matters.

EFT

Emotionally Focused Therapy

Addresses attachment needs and relational patterns, helping clients develop more secure, connected ways of relating to themselves and others.

IFS

Internal Family Systems

Helps clients understand and relate to different parts of themselves with curiosity and compassion, strengthening the internal leadership that holds everything together.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

A structured, evidence-based approach for processing trauma. Jennifer is EMDRIA certified and offers both integrated EMDR within therapy and standalone EMDR intensives.

"Healing does not always require removing someone from their environment or eliminating all stress. It requires helping people root more deeply in themselves, so they can withstand what comes."

This is not a platitude. It is the clinical philosophy that shapes every decision Jennifer makes in session -- from how fast to move, to which modality to draw from, to how she holds silence when silence is what is needed.

Beyond the credentialS

The person behind the practice.

Jennifer has spent her career in New Orleans, a city she knows and loves deeply. She understands the particular textures of life here -- its rhythms, its resilience, its complexity -- and brings that local knowledge into her work with clients who are navigating this city for the first time and those who have called it home for years.

Her yoga training is not incidental. She completed her 200-hour certification because she believes the body holds what the mind cannot always access, and she wanted the tools to work at that level with clients who are ready for it. Breath, nervous system awareness, and somatic grounding are woven into her practice in a way that feels natural rather than clinical.

She is also a systems thinker: someone who understands that individuals exist within families, institutions, and communities, and that healing often requires attending to all of those layers. This is what makes her Concierge College Transition Program work so effective: she does not just see the student. She sees the whole picture.

  • New Orleans based with deep local roots and community knowledge
  • Mind-body trained with RYT-200 yoga certification integrated into clinical work
  • Systems-informed with 20+ years spanning clinical, educational, and leadership roles
